I’ve been teaching in one form or another for most of my adult life.
I earned my Master’s in Education from UT Austin and spent 17 years teaching in public schools. Somewhere along the way, in 2005, I found yoga. It changed my life, first as a student and eventually as a teacher, and taught me how to meet myself with a little more love through all the messy parts of being human.
Today, I’m an E-RYT 500 yoga teacher, sound healer, end-of-life doula, and the General Manager of Black Swan Yoga in Austin. My work looks pretty different from my early days in the classroom, but teaching is still at the center of it.
I teach yoga and sound, train teachers, create community events, and lead experiences ranging from a room full of people practicing together to hundreds gathering for a sound bath. I especially love working with gongs, crystal bowls, chimes, breath, and movement, and exploring what happens when we give ourselves enough space to actually listen.
Community matters deeply to me. I believe people belong, exactly as they are, and I want the spaces I help create to reflect that. My classes are heart-centered, but they’re also playful. We can do meaningful work without taking ourselves too seriously.
I’m endlessly curious about people, creativity, sound, movement, life, and death. All of those things have found their way into my work, and I imagine they always will.
When I’m not doing any of the above, I’m probably snuggling with my dog, laughing with my family, or, whenever I get the chance, swimming with sharks.
